One Of The Richest Ecosystems In The Area With More Than 50 Years In Nature Conservation
Curú is definitely one of the most rich ecosystems in the area, and that combines with the easy access and the easy travel within the network of the dirt roads and single trails.
Curú Wildlife Refuge as we know it today was established in 1983, but the history of the efforts to preserve nature go far back more than 50 years with the establishment of the farm, times where thinking of conservation was something completely out of context.
Mature secondary forest, mangrove estuaries and rivers are part of the landscape where we have been hiking for almost 2 decades, making it one of our first and classic destinations.
Pioneers Of Private Land Conservation
As always we highly recommend entering the refuge at the earliest time possible. This will present the highest chances for animal encounters. The temperature rise is fast making the very first hours of the daylight the perfect window for animal activity.
Recommended for all ages this hike is the best option to spot mammals, great for birds and highly interesting for forest interpretation.

Important Information
To make the best out of the activity your guide will pick you up at your place of accommodation at 6:15 AM (time suggested) and travel with you to your destination. Forget about looking up directions to find your way there or any other small travel concerns and start the experience stress free from the moment you leave your place of accommodation.
Upon arrival, your guide will quickly complete the check-in process and will continue driving to the parking area, from there the hike will start for a couple of hours. The hike will be done in a loop, accessing the forest along a little river first, crossing through the mangroves and finally finishing the hike in the shoreline.
Your private guide will leave you back at your place of accommodation.
