This place is pure magic. Our home land for 17 years and the place where Sapoa Adventures was born. Santa Teresa, Mal País, Cabuya, Montezuma, and the surroundings are a secluded area where the beaches and sunsets are hypnotic.
We are proud to say that we’re pioneers in the area in regards to shifting society’s view towards nature. We started guiding people into the wild and increasing conscience on the importance of ecological experiences. Even our competitors where once our guides who learned and took their first steps with us at Sapoa.
Now with almost 2 decades of experience we are the true experts in the area. The selection of experiences is tested over time. We maintain the layback vibe of the locality, yet apply the professionalism and knowledge that separates us from the rest.
From adventure trips accessing the most secluded spots of the area to hikes into the prime tropical forest, or spending the day floating on the blue ocean catching dinner or whale watching. The company of our senior guides are a big plus to let you explore in the deepest possible ways.
Now days the importance of maintaining balance with nature in a rapid development context has become crucial to preserve this destination as wild and beautiful as always.
Experiences
Cabo Blanco is not a National Park, its title stands a higher status: The Absolute Reserve. As the name suggest this place is reserve for conservation for posterity. It was later in the history of the place that a selected area of its range was open to the public, in order to help the neighbour community of Cabuya with tourism.

This is one of the first experiences that we create since 2001 and still one of the favorites from our clientele. Jump in a ATV and drive around getting to know better the area. Drive in the off-road across mountains to Montezuma, to first enjoy some adrenaline in the zip-line over the tree tops, to then discover the well known waterfall of the area, a must visit if you’re around.

Curú Wildlife Refuge as we know it today was established in 1983, but the history of the efforts to preserve nature go far back more than 50 years with the establishment of the farm, times where thinking of conservation was something completely out of context.
Mature secondary forest, mangrove estuaries and rivers are part of the landscape where we have been hiking for almost 2 decades, making it one of our first and classic destinations.

As everyone knows the area of the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula is one of the best places in the country for fishing. There is also a community of fishermen that offers all kind of services.
Sapoa Adventures offers one step up into the fishing experience. We only use the best boats, up to day with insurance as well as tax and safety laws. We also include a local guide that is bilingual and has great knowledge on the history of the fishing town and the marine life.
