From the very first moments when Sapoa Adventures was born 15 years ago, it was clear to me how important it was to establish clear goals, ethics, and…

I was born and raised in Costa Rica. However, during that time I had a strong native influence from my mother’s side, a Salvadorian woman who migrated south for better opportunities. I felt a strong connection with that part and defined myself as native indigenous.

I’m a multidisciplinary person with a strong passion for what I do. I’m always in a never-ending journey to learn from the amazing natural and historical background that I come from. Also I’m always aware and appreciative of the relationship between my present and the history of these lands.

My broad and passionate interest in different subjects has been a challenge. However, I managed to become an anthropologist, an archaeologist, an experienced natural and cultural guide, and I have also been able to explore in different languages.

Last but not least, for the past 15 years I have worked in upscale restaurants and hotels, currently as Executive Chef at Hotel Casa Chameleon.

I was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica, with a strong Asian background (Chinese-Nicaraguan mother and Chinese-Costa Rican father). I grew up spending a lot of time outdoors, which strengthened my connection with Mother Nature. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, with an emphasis in Ecology and Sustainable Development; and have been working in tourism, environmental education and research since 1996.

My appetite for knowledge and adventure has led me to explore places like Kenya, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Malaysia, Singapore, United States, Canada, and of course my beautiful Costa Rica. My favorite things to do, other than spending time with my two sons, include Scuba Diving, trekking, horseback riding, meeting new people, and simply sharing my passion for Nature with others.

I have always felt a deep connection with the environment, and I believe that we all have this special connection, no matter where we’re from. It is my purpose, through my work, to help others find and strengthen that connection.
